You Are Welcome Here.
Exactly as You Are.
A Letter from Our Pastor
Hello, and thank you for your curiosity about Redbud Lutheran.
I know that walking into a new church—or even just browsing its website—can be an intimidating experience. Maybe you grew up in the church and are looking for a new home. Maybe you’ve been hurt by a religious community in the past. Maybe you’re just exploring faith for the first time. Whatever your story, I want you to know one thing: you are welcome here.
At Redbud, we are grounded in the good news that God’s love, what we call grace, is for everyone. No exceptions. It’s not something you earn; it’s a gift. That gift frees us to be a community where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We are a place of questions, conversation, and discovery.
We are a proud Reconciling in Christ congregation. This means we have made a public commitment to the full welcome, inclusion, and affirmation of our LGBTQIA+ siblings in all aspects of our church life. Our welcome is extended to all people, without exception—people of every race, nationality, the BIPOC community, age, political affiliation, marital status, gender identity, gender expression, economic or social status, and sexual orientation. When we say all are welcome, we mean it.
I invite you to explore, to ask questions, and to join us for worship online or in person. My door is always open for a conversation over coffee. I look forward to meeting you.
Peace,
The Rev. Dr. Anya Sharma
Lead Pastor
Frequently Asked Questions

What is worship like?
Our service follows a historic, four-part pattern that Lutherans have used for centuries: Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending. But this ancient rhythm is filled with modern life. You’ll hear scripture readings that connect to our world, a sermon that is both thoughtful and relevant, and music that ranges from majestic hymns on the organ to joyful songs led by our praise band. It’s a service that feels both reverent and relaxed, like a family gathering.

What should I wear?
Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. You’ll see people in jeans and t-shirts, and others in jackets or dresses. There is no dress code. Your presence is what matters to us, not your outfit.

Where do I park?
We have a dedicated parking lot behind the church building, accessible from Morgan Street. Several spots are reserved for those with mobility challenges, located right next to our accessible entrance. Street parking is also available and is free on Sundays.

What about my children?
Children are a vital and cherished part of our community. We believe their wiggles and whispers are a joyful sound in worship, not a distraction. We have a “pray-ground” space in our sanctuary with quiet activities for our youngest members. We also offer professional nursery care for infants and toddlers, and our “Redbud Sprouts” Sunday School takes place after the children’s message in worship.

Do I have to be a Lutheran?
Or even a Christian?
Not at all. We welcome seekers, skeptics, and people from all faith backgrounds. You are invited to participate in worship as you feel comfortable. You don’t have to believe to belong here. Our communion table is open to all baptized Christians who are seeking God’s grace. If you do not wish to receive communion, you are still invited to come forward for a blessing.

Will I be singled out as a visitor?
No. We promise not to make you stand up and introduce yourself. We want you to feel comfortable and experience worship at your own pace. There are connection cards in the pews if you’d like to share your information with us, but there is no pressure to do so. You can be as engaged or as anonymous as you wish.
